Software solution for an IoT device
We turned a touchscreen control panel into a reliable, straightforward interface tailored to ASTEL’s needs and visual identity.
The challenge
Prepare an IoT device for reliable access to the client’s existing web application. The client wanted to use an embedded touchscreen control panel as an interface for managing pool lighting. The device had to act as a simple, always-on terminal that automatically displays the web application full-screen at a predefined address. Beyond the core functionality, we also designed a straightforward process for initial setup and later device configuration.
Our solution
An operating system for kiosk mode and software for device configuration. We adapted the Linux operating system for kiosk mode and shortened the device’s startup time. We then developed a configuration interface that lets users change all necessary settings directly on the screen. We thoroughly tested the complete solution and improved it through several development iterations into its final version.
The result
A completed software solution, ready to be deployed across many devices. The client received ownership of the software solution, together with documentation and the knowledge needed to independently install the software on new devices. We also optimised the mass-deployment process for faster rollout. The software is designed for straightforward maintenance and future updates.
